During a recent Lochgilphead High School history trip to Belgium and France, band member Eoghan Anderson played his pipes at both Tyne Cot Cemetery and at the Newfoundland Cemetery just outside the village of Beaumont Hamel. He played a selection of tunes at Tyne Cot including Scotland the Brave, but at a very poignant and emotional visit to Beaumont Hamel he played The Taking of Beaumont Hamel. In addition to the pupils from the High School there were some Canadian tourists who commented that hearing the pipes had made their visit all the more special. All the pupils were touched by the visit particularly when some of them noticed their names on the memorials. During the trip the pupils placed Scottish flags on some of the graves.
