Friday 12th June 2009
Today I set off for Penzance to play the bass drum for the band at the
2009 Golowan Festival in Penzance. Because I'm slightly off my head I
travel north to John o'Groats! I've been to the Golowan festival with
the band three times in the past, and every time there, just 20 miles
from Lands End, I've wondered about cycling the route. And it's on my
'list'. And turning 50 this year means the ticks rate on the 'list'
has to increase.
My cycle JoGLE route is from JoG to Ullapool and ferry to Stornoway.
Cycle the length of the Western Isles and ferry to Oban. Cycle Argyll
to Skipness, ferry to Arran cycling to Brodrick and another ferry to
Ayrshire. Down to Cairnryan before another ferry to Ireland. Cycle
from Larne to Rosslea and ferry to Wales. Cycle the south coast of
Wales and try to find a boat to take me and the bike across the Bristol
Channel before finsihing off in Devon and Cornwall and meet up with the
Band on 25th June. A Celtic JoGLE.
I figure it won't be that difficult. Get on bike, head south, pedal.
Continue. How hard can that be?
